Cyber Security with TPN
Passwords are usually the first line of defence against cyber-attacks. Organisations need to reinforce a few critical password protection tips and implement a secure policy that is known and put into daily practise by each employee. But, this doesn’t just affect you at work! It is just as relevant and should be kept in mind every time you log onto any computer, cell phone or tablet to access the internet – whether it is to buy the latest gadget using your credit card, or log into your work network or email. Your company Password Policy should ALWAYS include these rules: Focus on length of the password over complexity – your password should be a minimum of 10 characters. Use sentences or a combination of words, commonly referred to as passphrases. These are easier to remember than a randomly generated password and secure. Users should have different passwords for work and personal accounts. Don’t reuse the same password on multiple accounts. Don’t share an account with another user, create a unique username and password for each user. Don’t save your password to your browser. Never write your password down! Share these tips with your staff – it only takes one weak password for hackers to have full access to your systems. |
